These are new surplus Ametek 38 volt motors. Great for making low power turbines in the 100 watt range. They start charging 12 volt at around 330 rpm and work well with blades of 4ft diameter or less. Maximum rating of 12 amps. They work great for other projects as well! It has a 5/8 inch shaft, measures 4" diameter x 4.5" long. Has 4 tapped 10-32 mounting holes in the front plate. There are 3 wires from the motor, the brown wire isn't used, the black and white are the DC output wires. The positive lead would be determined by its rotation. ...MOTORS ARE OUT OF STOCK SORRY... The mounts and hubs are still available! send an email to elenz at windstuffnow dot com for purchasing details. Motor mount bracket for the Ametek
Motor mount is CNC cut from 1/8" steel plate to fit the above motors. The rear holes fit a standard 1 1/4" sch40 black pipe. This is a very basic mount for a non furling wind turbine. The 1 1/4 pipe will fit over a standard 1" sch40 black pipe for a tower stub. Simply weld the pipe to the bracket, weld a heavy washer to the top of the pipe and you have your tower pivot. You can weld a 1/2" or 3/4" pipe to the rear of the tower pivot to mount your tail and the main assembly is ready to mount on the tower. The bracket comes as shown in the above left picture. You can purchase the sch40 pipes and washer at your local hardware store. $20.00 + shipping ( if its ordered with the motor they both ship in the same box ) The new brackets are designed to accept the motor hub and prop bracket shown below... Below is the new motor hub and prop mounting plate. The lower is the hub alone and above that is the prop mounting plate mounted to the hub. The prop plate is cut from 1/8" steel plate using a CNC plasma cutter and the aluminum hub is machined from solid 2" 6061-T6 aluminum stock. Comes with all the mounting hardware. Slide it on and tighten it down. The hub and prop mounting plate are $27.50 and can ship in the same box as the motor and/or mounting bracket for the same shipping rate.
Below shows a basic layout using the above motor bracket...
